Kelso Bikefest 2007

Just back from Kelso and very tired and blessed with a mixture of sunburn and wet rot!

We got a dry run down, tents up then it started to rain Friday afternoon, unfortunately Flash did not join us till the evening and had the joy of putting his tent up in the rain.

Friday night was spent in the main hall listening and dancing to the bands "Deep Blue" and "Totally Obscene". Saturday, although no rain the skies looked black and we were also a little jaded from the previous night so decided not to go for a run, but went round the stalls and the show, then chummed up with our buddies from Caer Conan MCC (Doncaster) and Perthshire Ladies MCC who also go every year, the sun came out and so did the alcohol, we then waddled up to the town for a meal and then the Black Swan with the Caer Conan crew.

Sunday the sun was blazing, tents packed up by 12 noon and headed home on a another dry run.

McGuinness sets record in TT win

John McGuinness celebrates his Superbike victory on Monday John McGuinness became the first rider to break the 130mph barrier in the Isle of Man TT when he won Friday's Senior race to complete a double.

The Yorkshire man, who also won the Superbike event, beat his own record by clocking 130.35 on the second lap.

McGuinness finished 33 seconds ahead of Guy Martin with Ian Hutchinson third.

Ian Lougher was fourth and he was followed home by NI's Adrian Archibald, Conor Cummins, Steve Plater and Michael Rutter in eighth.

Pre-race contenders Martin Finnegan, Bruce Anstey and Ryan Farquhar all retired on the opening lap.

Success in the final race of the centenary meeting takes McGuinness to 13 TT wins.

The first four finishers were all riding Honda machines.

After completing the circuit on "Mad Sunday" in the wet, the Slappers chill while

8 Slappers are setting off today for the Isle of Man to attend the 100th TT, they will be setting off around lunchtime today and leisurely ride down to Heysham to catch a ferry in the wee small hours of Saturday morning.

Hammered and Major all packed up and ready to go.

By passing on their knowledge, skills and experience, police motorcyclists can help you become a safer more competent rider.They help you to increase your ability and confidence, so you can get even more enjoyment from riding your motorcycle.

The Bikesafe initiative is a nationwide plan of action to reduce the number of motorcycle accident casualties by promoting safer riding.

Tayside Police have said that should we get 12 or more interested in taking the course, that they would consider holding an event just for us, so we have teamed up with the members of Perthshire Bikers Forum and hope to get enough interest to enable this event to go ahead.

Road Tax Petition

The government's proposal to introduce road pricing will mean you having to purchase a tracking device for your car and paying a monthly bill to use it. The tracking device will cost about £200 and in a recent study by the BBC, the lowest monthly bill was £28 for a rural florist and £194 for a delivery driver.

A non working Mum who used the car to take the kids to school paid £86 in one month.

On top of this massive increase in tax, you will be tracked. Somebody will know where you are at all times. They will also know how fast you have been going, so even if you accidentally creep over a speed limit you can expect a NIP with your monthly bill.

If you care about our freedoms and stopping the constant bashing of the car driver, please sign the petition on No 10's new website.
